Description:

Development of the Articular Joint: A Still Evolving Model and Implications for OA
April Craft, PhD - Boston's Children Hospital, Harvard Medical School

What we know about joint development is still limited, yet this information is crucial for identifying effective strategies for delaying joint degeneration and promoting repair and regeneration. Over the past decade, innovative research has begun to enhance our understanding of this complex process.  Here we will discuss novel in vitro and ex vivo models of joint progenitor cell specification and downstream lineage commitment.  By understanding how joints form and their component tissues are specified during embryonic life, we will be able to recapitulate these processes for regeneration or repair using endogenous, autologous or allogeneic cells.

Followed by select abstract presentations.
