Margreet Kloppenburg, MD, PhD


Professor Margreet Kloppenburg is appointed at the Departments of Rheumatology and Clinical Epidemiology, Leiden University Medical Center. After her graduation as Medical Doctor (Groningen University (cum laude)), she obtained her PhD-degree (Leiden University). She specialized as rheumatologist and registered as epidemiologist. She is Full Professor of Rheumatology with special interest for “Aetiology and Clinimetrics of Osteoarthritis”. Her group focusses on the causal role of systemic factors in osteoarthritis and on methodology to evaluate the course of osteoarthritis by MRI and radiographs, with special attention for hand osteoarthritis. Professor Kloppenburg has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers in national and international literature.
