St. Michael’s Hospital

I am a methodologist and trialist, Director of the Applied Health Research Centre at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital and a Professor of Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. I hold a Canada Research Chair in Clinical Epidemiology of Chronic Diseases and my main scientific interest has been on methodological studies, clinical trials and meta-analyses on cardiovascular and musculoskeletal disorders, with a particular focus on osteoarthritis and chronic pain. I served as Editor of two Cochrane Review Groups, contributed to the Cochrane Risk of bias tools for randomized and non-randomized studies, and am the lead author of multiple Cochrane reviews and meta-analyses on the treatment of osteoarthritis published in major journals. As a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, I had leading roles in major cardiovascular trials, served on several ESC task forces and co-authored several European guidelines.
